The list of approved Certification Evaluators can be easily searched by selecting the state in which your exam is being scheduled on the map below. Mixing the team of evaluators used by your site is a preferred practice as it gives more evaluators a chance to stay current and it allows for cross-training as they learn from one another.

If you are having difficulty finding evaluators for your exam, please contact your Chapter to see if they are willing to help offset travel costs for evaluators who may need to travel longer distances than normal. Contact the ACF Certification Team for further assistance.

Policies & Procedures

Certification Evaluators are an integral part of the ACF Certification process and must adhere to the policies and procedures provided in the Practical Exam Operations Administrative Handbook. Every exam requires three evaluators for up to six candidates. Use this 3:6 evaluator to candidate ratio if additional candidates are being simultaneously tested. Only one of the three evaluators may have an affiliation with an exam candidate (see Handbook).

The Test Administrator designates an experienced evaluator as Lead to serve as an intermediary, if needed, among the evaluators and to supervise apprentice evaluators. The Administrator is ultimately responsible for the administration and security of the exam paperwork. Together all volunteers work as a professional team.

Maintaining Certification Evaluator Status

Certification Evaluators are responsible for complying with the following to maintain their approved status:

  • Maintain their ACF membership and certification status.
  • Comply with any continuing education requirements necessary to maintain their evaluator status including attending a refresher course via a webinar (typically a 1.5 hour annual class).
  • Comply with any continuing education requirements necessary to maintain their volunteer status including attending an anti-harassment webinar (typically a 1-hour class once every two years) and any other requirements as set by the ACF for serving as an ACF volunteer.
  • Evaluate at least one practical exam every two calendar years.

Failure to comply with these requirements will render the evaluator status inactive until they have completed an eight hour Training Seminar and have met all of the requirements as required above.

Becoming a New Evaluator

We are now accepting applications for certified members who wish to become an approved Certification Evaluator.

  • Step 1, Complete New Evaluator Application
  • Step 2, Attend New Evaluator Training*
  • Step 3, Participate in three exams as an Apprentice Evaluator with an Approved Mentor who provides instruction, reviews your scores, and assesses your readiness.
  • Step 4, Receive Approval Status from the Certification Department at the ACF National Office.

Score Sheets & Exam Security

Candidate Score Sheets must be completed by each evaluator individually, and then the Administrator will compile scores for final pass/fail determination. All paperwork from the exam must be secured by the Administrator and received by the National Office within five days of the exam (see Handbook).
