Mission Statement

The mission of ACFEF’s Chef & Child initiative is to educate children and families in understanding proper nutrition by providing tools and resources for community-based programs led by American Culinary Federation chef members.

Ingredient of the Month

Jackfruit - Jackfruit is an exotic fruit with an oblong shape and spiny, green skin that turns yellow as it ripens. Inside, the jackfruit has orange-yellow fleshy bulbs between thin bands of fiber. Immature jackfruit has a meat-like texture and is often used as a vegetarian substitute. Mature jackfruit has a sweet flavor and is used as a fruit. Childhood Nutrition Day 2017

Thank you for making Childhood Nutrition Day a success this year! ACF awarded 19 grants to chefs and chapters across the nation, serving more than 2,800 students in 14 states and Guam. View events on www.acfchefs.org/CND.

While Childhood Nutrition Day is celebrated only during the month of October, let’s use this excitement to continue to reinforce proper nutrition and healthy choices in school-aged children throughout the year. Use our programs and tools to implement an awareness activity and make a difference in your community.
