The American Culinary Federation (ACF) along with the School Nutrition Association (SNA) are leading a new coalition of top culinary, nutrition and school organizations to oversee the Chefs Move to Schools (CMTS) program. This exciting initiative was created by First Lady Michelle Obama and Sam Kass, White House senior policy adviser for healthy food initiatives, as part of the White House’s Let’s Move campaign. The ACF Chefs Move To Schools taskforce has joined Chef & Child as a subcommittee to allow for more efficient utilization of resources and collaboration on developing tools for chefs to implement in local schools and communities. In addition, expert members can be contacted to offer guidance to chefs interested in joining the program. View Members

What is Chefs Move to Schools
The Chefs Move to Schools program provides a platform for chefs and schools to form a partnership to work with teachers, parents and school nutrition professionals to collaboratively encourage healthy eating and proper nutrition education to kids in engaging and fun ways. Partnerships involve anything from monthly classroom demonstrations and fruit and vegetable tastings to help in the cafeteria or planting a school garden. Get involved at www.chefsmovetoschools.com.

After you register as a chef on www.chefsmovetoschools.com, check the location map to see if an interested school is listed in your area. Be sure to add yourself to the locator map so schools can find you. After you have registered, you can download resources and lesson plans from the website. Grant Program
The American Culinary Federation, through the generous support of the makers of Hidden Valley® Original Ranch® dressings & dips offered grants to Chefs Move to Schools volunteers. To date, ACF has awarded 52 grants, a total of $13,000, to support chefs and schools promoting healthy eating to kids. View Recipients
