Sharing Culinary Traditions
ACF Mentorship Program
The mission of the ACF mentorship program is to provide student culinarians the opportunity to meet professional chefs in our organization who are willing to share their knowledge, life experiences and advice to assist these young culinarians in their path to a successful career.
The ACF mentorship program will pair student culinarians with professional chefs that have exhibited similar interests and will foster professional and personal growth for a specified period of time. All participants will be selected through an online application process and will receive a welcome packet with more detailed information.
Once matched, student culinarians will contact their mentors within a week to discuss a program of activities that is mutually convenient. These activities can include, but are not limited to, sharing experiences, volunteering at chapter events, shadowing at work and/or developing an education plan (including certification).
Student Culinarian Eligibility
This program is offered complimentary to all student culinarians that are active members of the ACF. Student culinarians must submit a recommendation from their chapter president, school program director or department chair. Student culinarians must sign an agreement confirming their commitment to this program and to provide updates to the mentorship committee. Keep in mind that you may not be paired with a chef in your local community.
The ACF appreciates the support of its members. If you have worked in the culinary profession for at least five years, you have experiences and knowledge to share with our student culinarians. Chefs from all industries are welcome to be part of this program and are willing to spend time to mentor a student culinarian. Chef mentors must sign an agreement confirming their commitment to this program and to provide updates to the mentorship committee. Keep in mind that you may not be paired with a student culinarian in your local community.
