Candidate’s Statement
My Fellow Colleagues,
The last 3½ years I have served as your National Treasurer. I am now asking to be elected as the ACF National Secretary. I am a person who takes my duties seriously and have always been responsible to you the members.
As National Secretary, my focus and goals are:
- Leadership Training at all levels
- Chapter Leadership Orientation Training
- Volunteer Orientation Training which includes chairing committees and committee participation
- Code of Conduct for all levels of membership
- Sexual Harassment - zero tolerance
- Professional Membership Growth
These areas impact everything we do and how we are perceived by our partners, allied organizations and most importantly ourselves.
I humbly ask for your vote so I might continue serving you.

Bio
- Married 39 years
- Jim was an industry chef for over 23 years
- In 1990 he went into public education at Columbus State Community College. He currently is an Full Professor and is Interim Chair of the Hospitality Department at Columbus State Community College

- Jim has been a member of ACF since 1984. He has attended all regional conferences and national conventions since 1987.
- 1988 Certified as Executive Chef
- 1991–1994 Chairman of Big Brothers & Sisters fund-raising gala
- 1991 ACF Columbus Chapter Chef of the Year
- 1994 Inducted in the American Academy of Chefs
- Participated in Culinary Art Competitions winning medals and awards
- Chaired or participated in fund-raisers for the following; Chef & Child, Aids Service Connection and Chamber of Commerce Clam Bake
- Trained ACF apprentices
- Judged numerous apprentice practical exams & Wine & Food Affinity Competitions
- Current President of ACF Columbus Chapter
- Chairman of Northeast Regional Conference Site Selection Committee 1995–1997
- Four years as President ACF Columbus Chapter 1992–1996
- Two years Chairman of Board ACF Columbus Chapter 1997–1999
- Four years Treasurer of ACF Columbus Chapter 1987–1991
- Three years Northeast Regional coordinator of the national Chef of the Year Committee 1992–1996
- Attended all regional and national conventions since 1987
- Chaired Northeast Regional Conference in 1992 & 1996
- Nominated for Regional Chef of the Year 1996
- Recipient of ACF Presidential Medallion 1996, 2005
- ACF National Seal of Approval Chair 1997–1999 & 2005 to present
- Northeast Regional Vice President of ACF from 2001 thru 2005
- BOD Liaison for the Educational Services Committee, Accreditation Commission, and Budget Committee from 2001 thru 2005

- ACF Columbus Chapter Chef of the Year 2002
- Coached Baron Galand Knowledge Bowl Teams since 1997 and have won many regional competitions
- American Academy of Chefs Chairman of Publicity and Editor of Magazine 2002–2005
- American Academy of Chefs Chairman of Education & Scholarship Committee 2006 - currently
- Northeast Regional l representative to the National Apprenticeship Committee
- 2008 - Chair-Elect to the ACF Accrediting Commission
- Northeast Region Educator of the Year in 2006
- ACE Lead Evaluator
- Four years as President of ACF Columbus Chapter 2006–2010
- Advised Junior Hot Food Competition Teams from CSCC
- Lead Judge in 2006, 2007, 2008 National Baron Galand Knowledge Bowl Competition at national conventions
