Introduction

The American Academy of Chefs (AAC), the honor society of the American Culinary Federation (ACF), was organized in 1952 by the ACF Board of Directors. The Academy is a way for the ACF to recognize the achievements of its fellow culinarians. The leadership of the AAC is through the Chair and National Vice Chair, both of whom are elected by Academy fellows.

The Academy's Mission

The goal of Academy fellows is to demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism in the organization, society and industry. AAC fellows always promote education in this profession and support those efforts by passing on the skills, training and expertise they possess. AAC fellows are always accountable for presenting a positive image throughout the local, regional and national communities at events they attend and sponsor.

Mission Support

A primary goal of the AAC will be interaction among its fellows nationally. Their goal will be to create and promote programs, to include special events, that support education through scholarships. A director from each region will direct and implement educational, fund-raising and other programs to support the AAC through the involvement of its fellows. The National Chair, National Vice Chair, Regional Directors, Ambassador and Hall of Fame Chair will compose the Board of Advisors. The Board of Advisors will evaluate and react to the needs of the Academy, to maintain direction and meet goals as directed by the AAC Policies and Procedures and Pledge. The final decision on all matters will be at the direction of the National Chair and National Vice Chair.

Academy fellows will continue to be leaders within their chapters and have the responsibility to spearhead chapter functions. They will be supportive and willing to accept the challenge to serve as foodservice advisors to local educational institutions, as well as be willing to assist at Academy dinners.
