Professional Development Program


American Culinary Federation's (ACF) Professional Development Program:


  • Provides educational sessions to expand the knowledge base of members
  • Includes forums where members can demonstrate and sharpen skills
  • Offers opportunities to fulfill certification requirements
  • Supports post-secondary culinary education programs


The Professional Development Program is part of the ACF Annual Events Series which includes four Regional Conferences and the National Convention & Trade Show.


The program consists of the following two tracks:


  • The Educator Development Series focuses on:

    • Curriculum planning & development
    • Evaluation & testing
    • Teaching methodology
    • Education psychology


    The collection of instructional seminars, lectures and workshops helps educators improve their proficiency in:

    • educational theories
    • teaching & learning processes
    • human dynamics


    While the program was developed for culinary educators seeking ACF certification, the components address disciplines common to all professional educators. Anyone in this field is encouraged to attend.


  • The Career Development Series focuses on:

    • Nutritional education
    • Sanitation & safety practices
    • Business management and supervisory skills
    • Lifestyle enrichment


    Comprised of seminars, lectures and workshops, the curriculum includes refresher courses needed to maintain certification points. The courses are designed to improve:

    • overall knowledge & skill base
    • marketability within the foodservice industry
    • personal & professional growth
