Charlie Trotter Donates $15,000 to the American Culinary
Federation
Trotter announces scholarship donation at ACF’s
conference in Schaumburg, Ill.
St. Augustine, Fla., April 1,
2009—Charlie Trotter, chef/proprietor, Charlie
Trotter’s, Chicago, announced, on behalf of the Charlie Trotter
Culinary Education Foundation, a $15,000 donation to the American
Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF) at the ACF Central
Regional Conference in Schaumburg, Ill., Feb. 23.
This year’s donation is in addition to the $25,000 donation
that Trotter announced last July at ACF’s national convention in
Las Vegas. The total amount of $40,000 will be used to create eight
$5,000 scholarships for culinary students. ACFEF has reconstructed its
scholarships program, and applications are now reviewed on a point
scale. Academic grade point average, participation in culinary
competitions, volunteer work, ACF involvement, an essay and references
will be reviewed by the AAC Scholarship Review Committee.
“ACF is again in awe and humbled by the generosity of the
Charlie Trotter Culinary Education Foundation,” said John
Kinsella, CMC, CCE, WGMC, AAC, ACF national president. “These
funds will help well-deserving culinary students achieve their dreams,
ones which may have not been possible otherwise.”
Trotter’s only request is that students who receive
scholarships contact him after they complete culinary school and are
looking for an externship or job. Deadline to apply for 2009
scholarships is May 1. For more information, and to download the college
student scholarship application visit www.acfchefs.org.
