Chefs Award Seal of Approval to Golden Grill® Russet™ Premium Hashbrown Potatoes

St. Augustine, Fla., September 9, 2005—The American Culinary Federation, Inc. (ACF), the nation’s largest organization of professional cooks, recently awarded its Seal of Approval to Golden Grill® Russet™ Premium Hashbrown Potatoes from Basic American Foods, Walnut Creek, Calif.

Golden Grill® Russet™ Premium Hashbrown Potatoes earned the federation’s endorsement following extensive testing by a panel of ACF-certified chefs chaired by James Taylor, CEC, AAC, a chef-instructor at Columbus (Ohio) State Community College. Testing criteria evaluated ease of use, versatility and adaptability of product, consistency of physical properties, application of product to service procedures and, above all, flavor.

ACF determined that Golden Grill® Russet™ Premium Hashbrown Potatoes, when prepared according to specifications, are virtually indistinguishable from whole potatoes in applications that require or feature hashbrown potatoes. Made from a special blend of shreds and seasonings for a unique taste, prepared product delivers the flavor, mouthfeel and appearance of hashbrowns made from scratch. Golden Grill® Russet™ Premium Hashbrown Potatoes go from package to plate up to three times faster than frozen hashbrowns, additionally saving valuable grill space.

As a result, ACF verified that Golden Grill® Russet™ Premium Hashbrown Potatoes provide solutions to back-of-house operations in aspects of labor convenience, consistency of quality, storage and holding capability, and deliver a satisfying experience to the diner. Golden Grill® Russet™ Premium Hashbrown Potatoes are the second potato product to earn ACF's Seal; last spring, ACF tested and awarded its Seal of Approval to Basic American Foods’ Nature’s Own® Premium Mashed Potatoes.

Basic American Foods, which has been committed to providing operators and their customers with convenient products that exceed expectations for more than 70 years, is an acknowledged leader in research and development in its foodservice markets.
