Western Region Vice President
Harry Brockwell, CEC, AAC
Harry Brockwell owns Oceanside Caterers in Westlake Village, Calif.,
and has served ACF as president of ACF Channel Islands Chefs
Association. He has won chapter Chef of the Year twice, was named
Western Region Chef of the Year in 1996 and has been awarded two ACF
president's medallions. Brockwell was the ACF California State
representative for two years.
Brockwell's goal is to provide professional-development opportunities
for every member in the Western Region. He believes ACF must provide
growth techniques for all members.
"Coinciding with developing skills in nontechnical talents, we need
to instill a true sense of pride. Members are entitled to both an
inspirational effort and receiving the true value of being a
member."
Growth will come as a byproduct of members' pride and an ultimate
willingness to bring friends and associates into the organization where
they are proud to be members, he believes. Values received for being a
member, development of professional skills and membership growth must be
paramount in our objectives, he says.
Brockwell's management style can best be described as being inclusive
of the wants and needs of the members. In a volunteer-membership
organization such as ACF, every effort to seek advice and consent from
members and local leaders is appropriate. Decentralizing and soliciting
support from key former ACF chapter presidents will be included.
