Become an Apprentice
Step 1: Applying for an Apprenticeship
- Students can apply directly through an ACF chapter, institution,
corporate site, or independent property that sponsors an apprenticeship
program.
- Contact the Program Coordinator at the location you are interested
in attending to schedule an interview.
- Note: You must be a high school graduate or equivalent and meet the
miniumum age requirement of the program to qualify.
Step 2: Acceptance into a 2-3 Year Program
You will need to:
- Register with the Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship
Training, through your program coordinator
- Complete and register with ACFF as an apprentice--please fill out an
Apprentice Data Form
- Join
ACF as a Student Culinarian within 90 days and maintain membership
throughout apprenticeship
- (2-Year) Complete a log book documenting 4,000 work hours at your
assigned facility(s) and 576 classroom hours in 12 mandatory
classes
- (3-Year) Complete a log book documenting 6,000 work hours at your
assigned facility(s) and 576 classroom hours in 12 mandatory
classes
Throughout your apprenticeship, you should
also:
- Keep your Program Coordinator abreast of your progress in the
program
- Attend related instructional classes
- Attend chapter meetings
- Participate in industry events and competitions
Step 3: Fulfill graduation
