Certification Requirements
Each Designation Requires
- The necessary documentation for the certification level, including:
- Civilian and/or military work experience.
- Formal education including high school, college or military training
schools.
- Completion of the 30-hour courses in:
- Food Safety & Sanitation Practices
- Nutritional Education
- Leadership, also known as Culinary Business Management &
Supervisory Skills
Each of the three 30-hour courses are valid for five years. After five
years, an eight hour refresher course is required. All courses are
available on-line through various military learning Web sites, ACF
educational partners and schools, and during the ACF National
Convention. Select courses are available during the ACF Regional
Conferences.
- Passing two exams:
- One written exam may be taken at any Comira location.
- One practical exam at any of the following test
centers.
Submitting Your Application
When you are ready to submit the ACF certification application, send
detailed smart transcript, proof of passing both the written and
practical exam and the appropriate fees to the American Culinary
Federation.
Military Discounts
ACF offers military personnel reduced membership fees. Benefits of
membership include discounts on certification fees, conference and
convention registrations and a year’s subscription to ACF’s
National Culinary Review.
