Take the Certification Practical Exam During ACF Convention

A practical exam for all levels of ACF certification (except CMC and CMPC) is scheduled for Tuesday, July 20, at the Orlando (Fla.) Culinary Academy/Le Cordon Bleu. The fee is $50 for members, $100 for non-members. Space is limited; availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Vote for the National Hermann G. Rusch Chef's Achievement Award

This award, formerly the Hermann G. Rusch Humanitarian Award, honors chefs who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to both ACF and the culinary profession. Such chefs, through their involvement with and contributions to ACF and our craft, have advanced the culinary profession and ensured the enrichment of students, our members and those in our profession.

Candidates for the national award in 2004 are:
William "Bo" Kozak, III, CEC, AAC (Central Region)
Stanley "Doc" Jensen, CEC, CCE, AAC, HOF (Northeastern Region)
John Wright, CEC, CEPC, CCE, AAC (Southeastern Region)
Richard Morgan, CEC, AAC (Western Region)

Each of these candidates is worthy to carry on the proud tradition of the chef for whom this award was named in 1993, Hermann G. Rusch, AAC (1907-1997).

Each ACF chapter in good standing has one vote. Ballots are due at ACF headquarters by July 1. Ballots will be counted and results placed in a sealed envelope until the national convention in Orlando. ACF Offers Commemorative Merchandise through E-store

Select Seating for the President's Grand Ball Online

Now through June 30, registered attendees of the 2004 ACF National Convention may reserve seats for the President's Grand Ball, Monday, July 19, by visiting ACF's Web site. Seats will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Avoid lines at registration and select the seating of your choice by reserving now!

You must have your convention-registration confirmation number to reserve your seat. (This number is found in the upper-left corner of the confirmation form mailed to you after your convention application and payment have been processed.) All tickets purchased on a single confirmation will be assigned to the same table. To reserve group seating, gather the required confirmation numbers and designate one of your group to go online and register everyone at the same time.

You can only register online once. Do not register online until you are sure of your seating preference and have communicated with all persons in your seating party. An approximate layout of the ballroom at the Orlando World Center Marriott can be viewed online.

Help ACF Grow Through 2004 Recruitment Drive

ACF's member-recruitment drive in 2004 enlists all members in the cause to "spread the good word" of the American Culinary Federation to the nation's 2 million professional cooks.
     If ACF gains 2,500 new, active-category members by the 2004 ACF National Convention in mid-July, each active member's 2005 dues will be reduced by $5. If ACF gains 5,000 new active members, each active member's dues will be reduced by $10.
     Plus, every member who brings aboard at least one new active-category member will receive a chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2005 ACF National Convention in San Antonio (one chance for each new active member). Drawing will be held at the 2004 National Convention in Orlando. Other incentives include a framed picture of ACF's new headquarters to everyone who brings in at least three new active-category members.

Deadlines for Convention Are Approaching!

To register for the 2004 ACF National Convention with the last discount: June 15. Active members save $85 by registering early; student members save $95. See the form in the most-recent National Culinary Review or visit www.secure-online.com/acf/pfpg_2004reg.cfm.

To compete in the 2004 cold-food salon: June 15. Compete in Orlando in categories A, B, C and D. First-place winners in each category receive $500. For chapters to submit raffle-ticket monies from CCF/Culinary Team USA fund-raiser sales: June 30. Chapters may keep all monies in excess of $750. To visit ACF's new headquarters following the convention: at earliest convenience. A bus trip is planned following the board of governors meeting Wednesday, July 21.
