Chef & Child Fundraiser offers entertainment for all at ACF National Convention

On Sunday, July 31, at the Marriott Riverwalk, ACF Chef & Child Foundation will hold its annual fundraiser. The event, held from 7-11pm, will feature three of "The World's Most Dangerous Dueling Piano Players," from local hotspot Howl at the Moon. Tickets are $35.00 per person, which includes heavy hors d'oeuvers, dessert bar and coffee. A cash bar will be available. The winner of the PT Cruiser will be announced, prizes will be raffled off and the presentation of the Little Oscar and True Spirit Awards will round out this amazing evening. If you are looking for a fun and sociable event, attend the ACFCCF event at the Marriott Riverwalk. Tickets may be purchased in advance through June 30 by calling (800) 624-9458, emailing acf@acfchefs.net or on-site at the convention.

On Saturday, July 30, from 1pm-3pm, join J. Daniel Knerr, CEC, AAC, U.S.A.'s Chef of the YearTM for 2004, as he demonstrates the techniques that made him last year's winner of the 42nd-annual Chef of the Year award. Knerr is executive chef at The Black Pearl in Newport, R.I. Check the ACF National Convention schedule for more exciting demos!




2005 Hermann G. Rusch Chef's Achievement Award ballots due July 1

2005 Hermann G. Rusch Chef's Achievement Award ballots have been mailed to chapters. Ballots are due, postmarked by July 1, to ACF National Office. The winner will be announced at the National Convention in San Antonio.




Tickets still available for the AAC Dinner in San Antonio

Academy Fellows who would like to attend the AAC Dinner in San Antonio on Sunday, July 31, and have not yet purchased tickets, may still do so by contacting Laura Howell at 800-624-9458, ext. 102, or lhowell@acfchefs.net. Seating preferences are welcomed and suggested, and every effort will be made to accommodate all requests. So, don't delay - make reservations for the AAC's 50th anniversary dinner!




Register now for tours of San Antonio at National Convention

While in San Antonio for the ACF National Convention, take some time to see the area's beautiful sights! Tours are coordinated by the Texas Chefs Association, host chapter for the 2005 ACF National Convention. Attendees and guests are welcome to participate!

Saturday's tour is a walk on the wild side - at the San Antonio Zoo! The zoo is one of the premiere zoos in the country with more than 3,500 animals of 750 species.

TOUR 2: SPANISH MISSION TRAIL
One of the country's few national parks within an urban setting, the missions tell the early story of San Antonio and European expansion in the New World.

MONDAY, AUGUST 1
TOUR 3: SPLISH SPLASH SCHLITTERBAHN
Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort, located in the beautiful Hill Country town of New Braunfels, is America's #1 waterpark according to The Travel Channel. Lunch is not included.
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 2
TOUR 4: GRUENE, TEXAS
Gruene, Texas, is a turn-of-the-century cotton farming community located on the banks of the Guadalupe River. This quaint little town is an assortment of restaurants, antique stores, specialty shops, and even its own wine tasting venue.
Time: 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
