ACF Culinary Team USA Brings Home Gold
Congratulations to ACF National Culinary Team USA, which brought home two gold medals from the 2006 Culinary World Cup Championship in Luxembourg. The team displayed talent, showmanship and hospitality, and continues to inspire culinarians around the world to further their education and become involved in global issues related to food.


"In one of the toughest World Cup competitions ever, ACF Culinary Team USA competed honorably and brought home gold," said ACF President John Kinsella, CMC, CCE, AAC. "I am very proud of the team and how they represented the American Culinary Federation and the United States."

Judging Competitions Seminar Scheduled for 2007 ACF Regional Conferences
The seminar is required for ACF members who are interested in becoming an ACF-approved judge, as well as for current judges who need to maintain their status. During the seminar, attendees will receive training and information necessary to accurately judge, score and critique competitors.


ACF-approved judges seeking to maintain their status need to attend the first two hours of the seminar. New judge candidates must attend the full six hours and will be given a written test.

Registration Deadline Approaching for 2007 Baron H. Galand Knowledge Bowls

Are you ready to put your culinary knowledge to the test? If yes, register to compete in the 2007 Baron H. Galand Culinary Knowledge Bowl, named after former ACF president and long time advocate of junior members, Baron H. Galand, CEC, HOF.


The competition is open to teams from ACF chapters, ACF apprenticeship programs, and accredited/certified American Culinary Federation Foundation Accrediting Commission institutions. Registration applications are due no later than December 31, 2006.


Teams compete at their respective ACF regional conference Baron H. Galand Knowledge Bowl competition. The winners from each regional competition will advance to the ACF national competition at the 2007 ACF National Convention.


Registration applications must be accompanied by a $150 registration fee. Applications that are not postmarked by December 31, 2006, will not be considered. Click here for the Official Competition Rules and Guidelines, and application.


ACF Chef & Child Foundation Accepting Applications for Little Oscar Award

The ACF Chef & Child Foundation (CCF) Little Oscar award recognizes those ACF chapters that put forward an exceptional effort to advancing the mission of the ACF Chef & Child Foundation in its fight against childhood hunger and obesity. Applications may be downloaded from the ACF Web site by clicking here or by calling (800) 624-9458. The deadline for submitting applications is January 15, 2007. The national Little Oscar award winner will be selected from among the four regional winners at the ACF National Convention.


Academy Fellows - Application Deadline Approaches

If you, or someone you know, would like to be considered for induction into the American Academy of Chefs, please contact the Academy office at (800) 624-9458 or by email to academy@acfchefs.net. Applications must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2006.


Nominations Open until December 31 for American Academy of Chefs Elected Positions

Nominations are open for the national chair and national vice chair positions of the American Academy of Chefs (AAC). Nominations will remain open until December 31, 2006. To nominate a candidate, you must be an active Academy Fellow in good standing. Please submit your nomination in writing to the AAC office at 180 Center Place Way, St. Augustine, FL 32095.


All nominations must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2006 to be valid. All candidates accepting nomination are required to respond in writing. Acceptance letters should also be sent to the AAC office, and must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2006.


Attention Central Region American Academy of Chefs Members!

Mark Your Calendar! A "true" American Academy of Chefs (AAC) dinner will be held on March 11, 2007 at the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Ind., with host, Don Miller, CEC, CCE, AAC. This will be an extraordinary event. All AAC dinner guidelines will be meticulously followed. Seating is limited to 100.
