1,000 Chefs Support Childhood Nutrition Day
Lunch Break for Kids supporting Childhood Nutrition Day in partnership with Hidden Valley® Original Ranch® dressings & dips was a huge success, reaching more than 10,000 participants during the month of October. Sixty-five chapters and five celebrity chefs participated by holding fundraisers and/or outreach events promoting healthier eating habits among kids and families. All proceeds from the event benefited the Chef & Child Foundation to help create nutrition-based educational resources for chefs involved in outreach programs.
Stay tuned for an update on the 10K Challenge in the December 17 issue of The Culinary Insider.

Boosting Foods
With the holiday season upon us, we also get the rippling effect of the cold and flu season. Flu shots, washing hands, downing vitamins, drinking water, exercising and getting enough sleep are all ways to help build up your body’s immune system. Working in a restaurant, you may find it difficult to find time to drink eight cups of water and get eight hours of sleep. Don’t fret. A healthy diet may prove to be your body’s best protection against unwanted pathogens. There are some foods that have exceeded healthful expectations, being deemed immune-boosting foods. Find out about these foods in December’s “Culinary Nutrition News,” Cold Case: Revealing Immune-Boosting Foods, sponsored by French’s Foodservice and provided through a partnership between ACFEF Chef & Child Foundation and Clemson University.
