Eleven Chefs Selected for ACF Culinary Team USA
Eleven chefs were selected Sept. 18 for ACF Culinary Team USA, the official representative team for the U.S. in international culinary competitions. Beginning in October, the chefs will work with the team’s coaches to represent the U.S. at the 2014 Villeroy & Boch Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg and the 2016 Internationale Kochkunst Ausstellung, commonly referred to as the “culinary Olympics,” in Erfurt, Germany. ACF Recertification Scholarships
The ACF Certification Commission established the Certification Scholarship Program to assist chefs who are in the recertification process and are experiencing financial hardship. Applications are due Oct. 31, 2013, and scholarships will be awarded by Jan. 31, 2014. Review the requirements to see if you qualify for assistance.

ACFEF Grants Accreditation to Postsecondary Culinary Programs
Fifty-two culinary programs in 24 educational institutions across the United States received programmatic accreditation from the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF) Accrediting Commission at the commission meeting in July. Initial ACFEF programmatic accreditation was granted to 18 culinary programs, and 34 accreditations for culinary programs were renewed. On renewal, 23 of the programs were recognized by the ACFEF Accrediting Commission as exemplary, symbolizing the highest in educational standards. The award is presented to programs that have proven consistent compliance with all ACFEF Accrediting Commission accreditation requirements in the last two site-visit reports, along with excellent management of the program.
