St. Augustine, Fla., June 18, 2009—The American Culinary Federation (ACF) will honor Cincinnati-based Servatii Pastry Shop & Deli with an Achievement of Excellence Award at the 2009 ACF National Convention held at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, Fla., July 11–14.

Servatii Pastry Shop & Deli was the only facility to receive the award in the Pastry Shop/Bakery category, which recognizes foodservice establishments that exemplify a commitment to excellence in their area. Criteria for the award include being in operation for at least five consecutive years, nomination by an ACF chapter, member or individual in the foodservice profession, and being a recognized industry leader.

Servatti has a rich baking and pastry history that spans four generations and can be traced back to Muenster, Germany. There, Wilhelm Gottenbusch worked as a bakery cart driver, and his son, George, opened Café Servatii. George’s son, Wilhelm, worked as a cook in Austria, and eventually came to Cincinnati. Today, the family’s rich heritage of master bakers and master pastry chefs continues. Servatii prepares more than 450 authentic European and American recipes each year. It offers deli and catering services, wedding cakes, breads and breakfast items, as well as other specialty items. Servatii Pastry Shop & Deli has nine locations in Ohio and one in Kentucky.

Chefs, cooks and foodservice professionals will attend the 2009 ACF National Convention for its educational seminars, culinary demos, networking and social functions, culinary competitions, meal events and more. For information, or to attend, visit www.acfchefs.org or call (800) 624-9458.
