The Hermann G. Rusch Chef’s Achievement Award recognizes a chef
who has generously shared his/her knowledge with others throughout the
years, and continues to be a source of information and guidance for
other culinarians. As this year’s Western Region recipient, Hull
is a candidate to receive the national 2010 Hermann G. Rusch

has more than 35 years experience in the foodservice industry as a
chef/owner, chef educator and consultant. Since her retirement from the
education sector, Hull has continued to teach Hawaii’s children
about proper nutrition by speaking to more than 2,000 children a year
and serving as chair of her chapter’s Chef & Child Foundation
committee since 2002. In 2002, 2006 and 2008, she was recognized
nationally for her volunteer work and received the foundation’s
Little Oscar Award.
An ACF member since 1989, Hull is an active member of ACF Kona-Kohala
Chefs Association, and volunteers regularly at events that raise an
annual amount of $80,000 for culinary scholarships. Other career
highlights include revising existing foodservice courses and proposing
new ones at Hawaii Community College, where Hull worked as an associate
professor for more than a decade, and being inducted into the American
Academy of Chefs, ACF’s honor society, in 2007. She is also a
member of Les Dames d'Escoffier, Honolulu, and the International
