The mission of ACFEF’s Chef & Child initiative is to educate children and families in understanding proper nutrition by providing tools and resources for community-based programs led by American Culinary Federation chef members.
Ingredient of the Month
A persimmon is botanically a berry that comes from the edible fruit trees in the genus, Diospyros. There are astringent and non-astringent varieties. When softened, persimmons have a sweet and delicate flavor.

ACFEF Supports Healthy Eating with Grants
American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF), through the Chef & Child initiative, is offering ACF chefs and chapters grant funding to support nutrition outreach activities in their communities. Grant opportunities are available for events (i.e. cooking demonstrations, tastings), as well as programs (i.e. after-school programs, cooking classes). For more information, click here.
