The Road to IKA: The History and Future of ACF Culinary Team USA

The Internationale Kochkunst Ausstellung (IKA) is one of the oldest, largest and most diverse international culinary art exhibitions in the world, dating back to 1900 and taking place every four years. Roughly 2,000 chefs and pastry chefs from more than 60 nations compete—against themselves and each other—in the week-long competition drawing crowds of fellow chefs and supporters.

The IKA, which is also referred to as the “culinary Olympics,” often fails to get the press and attention it should, but ACF Culinary Team USA has a lengthy history in the competition with teams participating as far back as 1956.
